“I take that as a yes, now if you agree to be my wife I could do even better.” Again she
nodded. Kenji gently rubbed his hands up and down her back. “I take that as another yes.”
Finally she lifted her head to look into his eyes before answering.
“Yes, I'll marry you on one condition you know this is not going to be the traditional
Japanese marriage. I won't walk behind you or be ordered around by you. So if this doesn't work out we cut our losses and get a divorce to end the charade.”
He agreed to her terms knowing full well that a divorce would never be an option for them, even if things didn't work out between the two of them. Kenji knew that she would never be a traditional Japanese bride. That she wouldn't take orders from him and that she would always speak her mind, but he wouldn't have it any other way.
Once she became his wife she would be his forever. There was no need to tell her that, because he would make sure it doesn't come to that. He would make her happy with or without love. He would satisfy her every desire.
Chapter Six
The next morning Kenji arranged for three dozen long stem roses to be delivered to Kat. A dozen in white which represented purity, a dozen in orange representing the fact that he desired her, and a dozen in lavender that represented his unspoken love for her. Along with the roses he'd included a dinner invitation to join him that evening. He'd made reservations at a five star restaurant in Atlanta.
Kenji had planned an evening he hoped she'd enjoy. Dinner, dancing and conversation about their future together. Maybe she would be willing to discuss things in a different atmosphere. Since he and his men were staying here at the estate, he avoided running into Kat until after the roses had been delivered. Just in case she was upset about the kiss from the night before.
When he'd walked her to her room door last night she quietly said goodnight and closed the door in his face. He couldn't read her mood or tell what she was thinking. It was almost lunchtime she should have received the roses by now, he thought as he finished his morning training routine.
Every morning he put his body through a series of martial arts practices as well as training with his sword. Kenji had just sat down, to meditate when he felt Katsumi's presences.
He didn't need to see her to know that she was there. Whenever she was near, his body reacted. It always had and that was the problem seven years ago.
“Are you just going to stand there or did you want to talk to me?”
Kat had always hated when he did that. He always knew that she was there without even looking at her. One day she would figure out how he did that. She'd been trained to move soundlessly. Her movements were undetectable to the human ear. That's how she'd been able to sneak away from her bodyguards when she needed to. But she'd never been able to sneak up on Kenji.
“I hate it when you do that!” She said sounding annoyed.
Kenji still didn't look at her when he responded to her remark. “I know.”
She moved to stand in front of him as she asked through clenched teeth “If you know,
then why do you do it?” He popped one eye opened when he heard the irritation in her voice. “Because I can, that's why.” He said before closing his eye.
Katsumi closed both her hands into tight fists at her side as her annoyance with Kenji grew. Sometimes he could be so infuriating. She didn't know how she could be in love with such a jerk.
“You know what forget you Kenji you are such a jerk sometimes.” She moved to walk past him, he reach out and grabbed one of her hands. Kenji tugged lightly pulling her off balance and into his arms. He twisted both them so that she was beneath him but pinned against his body.
Kenji looked down into her golden eyes. “I'm sorry Kat, I was just joking around, I wasn't trying to make you mad at me.”
Kat glared up at him. “That's just it Ken you don't have to try, it's just what you do.” She saw the smile that touched his lips for a brief second before it vanished. “What are you smiling about?”
“I'm not smiling.” Ken replied.
“No but you were, I want to know why?” She watched as the smile returned to his lips. “You called me Ken you haven't done that since we were kids. It sounded nice to hear you call me that again.”
Kat looked away from him as she spoke to him this time. “Yeah, well that just slipped out it won't happen again, now get off me.”
Kenji lowered his head until his lips were next to her ear as he whispered. “Not until you stop being mad at me.” He then captured her earlobe gently between his teeth.
Hearing the sharp intake of breath, as she involuntarily thrust her breast up against his chest. He removed his mouth from her earlobe and slowly slid it downward to nip at her neck, then licked the spot with the tip of his tongue.
Her breathing became labored, as she gasped in short, quick breaths as her eyes slide shut.
Kat shivered slightly from the sensations his actions caused.
Ken had just meant to loosen her up so that she would stop being mad at him anymore. If he didn't stop he'd be in trouble. Returning his lips to her ear he whispered.
“Do you forgive me Hime Kat?” She would forgive him for anything when he made her
body feel like this.
Kat swallowed loudly to get her words past the lump that was blocking her throat.
“Yeah... I mean yes, Ken I forgive you.” He placed a soft kiss on her lips before releasing her. He stood then extended his hand to help her to her feet.
“Did you want to talk to me about something Kat?” He asked her as he put a little distance between them, moving to the other side of the room. She blinked a few times to gather her composure. “Oh...uh, I wanted to thank you for the roses they're lovely. And to tell you that I'd really like to have dinner with you this evening.”
Kat watched Ken from across the room as he put away the weapons he'd used during practice. His shiny, black hair was pulled up into its usual high ponytail at the back of his head. His well toned arms flexed tightly as he worked to put things away.
From where she stood she could count every finely chiseled muscle in his stomach. He
didn't have a six pack. No it was more like an eight pack. Lord have mercy this man is too sexy for words. Kat used her hand to fan her heated face.
From the looks of the expression on his handsome face, he seemed to be in deep thought. She wished she knew what he was thinking, because she knew what she was thinking and every single thought in her head could get her serious trouble if she wasn't careful.
When he finally responded to her, he still didn't look at her. “That's great. I've made reservations at a very nice place that I think you will really enjoy. We'll have an evening of dinner and dancing. You still like to dance, don't you?”
She smiled at what he'd just asked. He remembered that she like to dance. “Yes I still like to dance. What time should I be ready?” She asked with excitement in her voice.
“Around seven, since we have to drive to Atlanta, is that alright with you?” This time he did look at her.
A big smile spread across her beautiful face as she replied. “Yes that's fine with me, I'll be ready.”
“Good, now I'll get out of your hair so that you can get on with your daily workout I have a few things to take care of before our date tonight.” He said as one side of his mouth lifted in a little smile on the way out the door.
Kat was so excited about her date with Ken that she didn't know how she was going to be able to concentrate on her workout. She had a lot to do to get ready for their date. What was she going to wear, was what she was thinking about instead of focusing on her practice. She was going to be useless all she could think about was dancing with Ken as he held her in his arms.
Kat ran through a few quick budo, fighting or martial arts, moves, then switched to a wakizashi, short sword, and performed a series of ken-jutsu, art of the sword, moves that included kicks and flips while holding her waskizashi. Afterwards she
sat on the practice mat with her legs crossed in her meditation position.
The only thing she was able to meditate on was what she planned to wear on her date with Ken.
Her plan was to knock his socks off. She wanted to look sexy, hot and irresistibly desirable. See how Ken handled that, mister cool, calm and collected.
She'd teach him about teasing a girl the way he had.
Chapter Seven
Kenji was waiting in the foyer for Kat, speaking quietly with uncle Daichi and Mi when Kat appeared at the top of the stairs. Kenji's heart stopped for a moment then kicked into
overdrive. She was simply beautiful. As she slowly descended the stair his gaze feasted on her from head to toe.
Some of her hair was pulled up and away from her lovely face, as the rest fell in thick shiny curls down the middle of her back. The purple dress she was wearing had only one sleeve that covered her right shoulder and ended at her wrist. The neckline that ran from her shoulder, to over her chest and stopped under her left arm was trimmed in silver.
Her left shoulder was uncovered so that her silky, smooth, light brown skin could be admired. The short skirt of her dress stopped mid-thigh showing off her long creamy looking, caramel legs. A pair of silver stiletto sandals encased her perfectly manicured feet.
Ken noticed that she was wearing the gifts he'd left for her in her room. A diamond
bracelet and choker with matching earrings. They sparkled brightly but not as bright as her
smile. She was his dream come true, she had invaded his dream on so many occasions
over years. It was hard to believe they were here, just a few days from being married.
“You look amazing, Kat.” Kenji said once his voice returned.
“Thank you, so do you. Are we ready to go?” She replied softly as she turned to kiss
Daichi on the cheek and then Mi, to say goodnight. Kenji opened the front door for Kat as he grabbed their coats from the rack in the foyer then also said his goodbyes to both Daichi and Mi.
After closing the door behind Ken and Kat, Daichi and Mi looked at each other.
Mi was the first to speak. “Did you see the look in Kenji's eyes when Katsumi appeared at the top of the stairs?” She expressed with a big grin on her face.
“Yes I saw it we both know that those two have been in love with each other since they were teenagers, even if they won't admit it. Their marriage should be a good union.”
Outside Kat had been expecting Kenta, Kenji's driver, bodyguard and personal assistant to bring the limo around. What he brought around instead was a brand spanking new Jaguar XJ supersport in botanical green metallic. Kat's mouth dropped open as she gazed at the beautifully crafted automobile.
The Jaguar XJ was her dream car. “What the...When did you get that?” She asked with lust in her eyes.
Ken saw the expression on her face and knew that he'd just earned himself a few points in the, good-to-go-column. “I ordered it before I got here, it was just delivered today I thought we'd take this on our date so we could be alone, no driver, just the two of us. That is if you don't mind me doing the driving tonight?” He asked as he gazed at her expectantly.
“No I don't mind at all I think that's a wonderful idea.” She replied as her eyes reluctantly traveled from the vehicle to Kenji, giving him a brief smile, she quickly returned her lustful gazed back to the Jag XJ supersport. She could not believe he'd bought the exact car that she'd been dreaming about.
Since seeing the ad for one. He'd even ordered it in the color she'd dreamed of. Kenji thanked Kenta for bring the car around while opening the door for Kat to help her inside. Ken closed the door and made his way to the driver’s side, while she scanned the interior. The seats and dash were done in London tan leather with piano black veneer trim on the interior doors. She also noticed before he'd closed the door that he'd ordered the illuminated tread plates. The jet styled seating was dramatically complemented by the panoramic roof giving the illusion of being in the cockpit of a real jet.
The HD touchscreen cast a soft glow inside the car. Once Ken was behind the three spoke leather heated steering wheel with sequential shift paddles, he voice activated the surround sound system. Trey Songz' sexy vocals flooded the car. That man had a voice as smooth as glass he could have a woman out of her pants and on her back before finishing the first verse of one of his songs.
She cut a surprised glance in his direction. “Did this CD come with the car? Because I know it can't be yours. Since when did you become a Trey Songz fan?”
Ken put the car in gear and glanced at her, before pulling away. “There's a lot about me you don't know, that's why we're going on a date so that we can get acquainted with one another remember and girl you trippin'. For your information this is my CD, I like Trey Songz' music so I guess I am a fan.”
Turning her head towards the passenger window, she responded. “You did not just say trippin', who have you been hanging around? Whatever so where are you taking me for dinner?” They'd just driven pass the first security checkpoint, when the main gates at the next checkpoint slowly began to open. Ken accelerated through the gates at neck break speed. She knew from her research that this bad boy could go from zero to sixty in four point seven seconds.
This car was everything she'd dreamed of Ken was everything she'd dreamed of. If only he would fall in love with her then this would be perfect. But he didn't love her and he probably never would.
What she wouldn't give to get behind the wheel. “Are you going to tell me where we're headed?” Kat asked as she stared at him. Ken looked handsome as heck in his expensively tailored charcoal Hugo Boss suit. He was wearing a black silk dress shirt that was opened at the neck, showing just a bit of his sun kissed skin.
Kat saw that he was wearing tiny silver hoops in both his ears. And an Omega watch on his wrist. His long black hair was pulled into his usual ponytail at the back of his head. That gorgeous face of his, with those high cheekbones and perfect lips, had invaded her dreams last night.
She had dreamed of him many times over the years. Oh how she'd missed him. He'd been her best friend, her only friend when they were children. Then he'd just left her behind while going off to train. Kat still didn't quite understand the reason he'd left without even saying good-bye to her.
“You’re staring.” She heard Ken say.
“Yes, because I'm waiting for you to answer my question.” She replied.
He threw her a quick glance before returning his gaze to the road. “Patience hime, you'll see soon enough, just seat back and enjoy the ride.”
They made it to the restaurant in Atlanta in record time. The valet helped Kat from the car as Ken made his way to her side. Ken saw the excitement in the young valet's eyes as he eyed the car. He stopped the young man with a hand to his arm.
“If you do any damage to my car, I'll do plenty of damage to you. You got that kid?”
Kat turned her head to hide the smile that had taken over her lips. Once she was able
to put on a straight face she turned to Ken. “Why did you scare that boy like that?”
He placed his hand at the small of her back to guide her inside. He leaned in close
to her ear. “Did I? I couldn't tell.”
Her mouth dropped open, as she stopped her forward progress. How could he not notice how terrified he had made that young man? “What do you mean you couldn't tell that young man was trembling after you threatened him?”
Ken gazed down at her, as one corner of his mouth lifted in a slight smile. “Was he
trembling? Good then he'll be careful with our car, and I didn't threaten him I stated a fact. If he damages that car, I'll damage him.”
Kat sighed. “Ken you can't go around scaring people like that.” Before she could say anything else he urged her forward as he applied the slightest bit of pressure to the small of her back were his hand rested.
“I just did.” He whispered in her then turn his attention to the hostess. “We have reservati
ons, Fujimoto.”
Kat noticed the gleam in the hostess eyes as she gazed at Kenji. The smile she wore was wide enough to light a runway at the airport. “Yes Mr. Fujimoto, right this way your table is ready.”
The tall leggy blond with the tight little skirt that was way too short and blouse that was three sizes too small, was grating on her nerves something awful. If she swayed her narrow little hips any harder she'd broke something or catch a cramp.
Once they were at the table Ken pulled her chair out for her and then seated himself. The busty hostess leaned over a bit too far while handing Ken his menu. She had her breasts just inches from his face. Kat rolled her eyes, who was she fooling those implants barely fit in that too small shirt she was trying to wear. Now she was attempting to give her man a peep show.
